Maratha Reservation: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today met Maratha agitator Manoj Jarange at Antarwali Sarati. The Chief Minister’s efforts have been successful. Jarange has called off his fast after 17 days. Eknath Shinde along with Girish Mahajan, Raosaheb Danve, Sandipan Bhumare, Arjun Khotkar and two government officials met Manoj Jarange.
Eknath Shinde said, as the Chief Minister of the state, I thank Jarange, his team, his family. He is fighting for the community, he has no personal gain in this, he took a straight stand on Maratha reservation. I told Jarange Patil’s father. That their burden is heavy. Fighting for society
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, if the intention is sincere, the public stands behind it. So everyone supported Jarange. I demanded them to stop their fast. I am thankful that he took the syrup. The role of the government is clear.
The government had earlier given 16 and 17 percent reservation to the Maratha community. But the Supreme Court laid down the law and that reservation was struck down in the Supreme Court.
When reservation was cancelled, 3700 children were interviewed, we dared to give them jobs. We worked to give the benefits that OBCs get to Marathas. But the role of the government is also that we should get the canceled reservation, Shinde said.
Eknath Shinde said, Maratha community should get rights. Marathas have no differences with other castes. So we are going to try to give the canceled reservation, the government is determined to give reservation to the Maratha community, we will give it without doing injustice to anyone. Until we get reservation, we will not be as healthy as Manoj.
Maratha society and government are not different. I had decided to keep the protocol aside and meet Manoj, my dad was making preparations while he was in the village. Eknath Shinde said that they are also participating in Maratha Kranti Morcha.
