Mumbai, Maharashtra News Live Updates Today: The Supreme Court, a short while ago, said that Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray cannot be reinstated as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra as he resigned from the post voluntarily without facing a floor test. However, it said that the then Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s decision to call for a floor test that ultimately toppled the Uddhav-Thackeray-led MVA government was not in accordance with the law

Maharashtra Sena VS Sena Live Updates:The top court was dealing with the issue of disqualification of 16 MLAs belonging to CM Shinde’s Sena. The 16 MLAs, including Shinde, were sent disqualification notices for not attending a party meeting convened by the then CM Uddhav Thackeray despite the whip which was issued. In July, when Shinde sought a trust vote on the floor of the state legislative assembly, the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena combine got the support of 164 out of a total of 288 MLAs and became the chief minister.

Maharashtra Sena VS Sena Live Updates:Since June 2022, a constitution bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has been hearing a batch of petitions filed by both the groups from Sena. A five-judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court, comprising CJI Chandrachud and Justices M R Shah, Krishna Murari, Hima Kohli, and P S Narasimha, had on March 16 concluded hearing and reserved its verdict on a batch of pleas filed by both Sena groups.

Eknath Shinde must resign just like I did,’ says Uddhav Thackeray

Reacting to the Supreme Court’s observations that the Maharashtra Governor’s decision to call for a floor test in June 2022 was not in accordance to the law, Shiv Sena UBT president Uddhav Thackeray said, “Just like how I resigned on ethics, Eknath Shinde, and this illegal Govt should also resign on the issue morality”.

Addressing a press conference with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Thackeray said, “Those who have betrayed me were the ones subjecting me to tryst vote. How could I have allowed this”.
