Though an offence of gang rape was registered at the Borakhedi police station of Buldhana district, SP Buldhana Sunil Kadasne said that the woman on Friday claimed she was not physically exploited and refused to undergo medical examination. “Though an offence was registered, it may not be a case of gang rape and charges would be subsequently dropped. But there certainly is an offence of dacoity,” said Kadasne.

The eight persons had allegedly threatened the woman and her kin at knifepoint. They snatched cash Rs 45,000 from the kin and thrashed him with sticks and stones leaving him severely injured. The man later approached the Borakhedi police station.

On June 27, the girl was befriended by a man at Bhandara bus stop who took her to a friend’s place where four persons allegedly exploited her. The man again summoned her on June 28 to another friend’s place where two of them gang raped her for the second time, she has told cops. On June 29, the girl stayed back in Bhandara before proceeding to Mumbai to meet her friend. The Adyal police rescued the minor from Mumbai and brought her to Bhandara on July 10.
